Dr. Raphael Pazo is an acclaimed bagpiper, performer, instructor and composer with over three decades of experience in a variety of venues and events. With a remarkable ability to play from his vast repertoire of traditional Scottish, Irish, Welsh songs, performed in a historical set of bagpipes, he is known for his unique musical tone and expression, his flawless execution and his impeccable dress and presentation. He own of the largest collections of hand-made, couture heirloom-quality kilts in various tartans, jackets -coatees - ranging from semi-formal, military (dress and high dress), as well as all authentic accessories, all hand made in Scotland. He began his formal musical education at a very young age with his father, Don Rafael Pazo, attending an institute for gifted young musicians from the sixth grade until high school graduation. During the summer, he attended numerous music camps (in the U.S. and abroad) where admission was by blind admission only. As a violinist, he often served as Concertmaster of the orchestra. He is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, Spain, and received his bagpiping instruction from faculty instructors of the College of Piping in Glasgow, Scotland, as well as from professional bagpipers from the U.S. and Canada. Besides playing various types of bagpipes (Scottish, Welsh, Northumbrian, Spanish and others), he is an accomplished violinist, classical guitarist, vocalist (soloist, with choruses and in a capella groups in several languages), arranger, composer and conductor of symphonic and philharmonic orchestras. He also plays recorders (medieval flutes - all ranges - Sopranino, Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass), clarinet, accordion, bugle, shofar (Israeli ram's horn - the antique "trumpets" that brought down the walls of Jericho), mandolin, ukulele, Australian didgeridoo, keyboard, harmonicas, Andean (South America) flutes and Pan flutes, hand harp, or several other instruments, He also enjoys singing Barbershop Quartet Music as a member of the Stockton Portsmen, and sings baritone and serves as director of his own quartet, ALL IN A-CHORD. He is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBQSA). His bagpiping formal affiliations include: American Military Pipers Association, International Fraternity of Piping Paratroopers, International Fraternity of Police Bagpipers, U.S Honor Guard Associations (providing military honors for U.S. Veterans from all branches - U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard), U.S. Police Honor Guard Pipers, The California Police Officers Memorial Association, The Queens Club ( a British Club of Officers of the British, American and other allied Armed Forces) the San Francisco and Stockton Scottish Rite and others. He is an U.S. Army Veteran (Medical Service Corps) and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He serves as Honor Guard Bagpiper for several police departments, and He is also a Past Master of Anaheim Lodge 207 Free and Accepted Masons and a member of Woodbridge Lodge 131 and Lodi Lodge 256. He is a former Masonic District Inspector, a position appointed by the Grand Master of Mason in California. Dr. Pazo is an ordained Rabbi and registered Wedding Officiant (in States where is required). He celebrates and officiates traditional, alternative and non-denominational weddings is a variety of languages - English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic. He is married to his college sweetheart (26 years, and counting), proud father of 4, and grandfather of 3.
